Introduction: When “Standard Parameters” Can’t Answer Real Working Conditions, Test Data is the Only Truth
Every engineer who purchases isolators faces the same confusion: the frequency and stiffness values in the product brochure look “perfect”, but once installed on equipment, the isolator behaves too stiff under small vibrations and may exceed expectations under large shocks. This is because most conventional isolators use a linear elastic design and cannot adapt to vibration inputs of different amplitudes.
Friction damping isolators are completely different – their dynamic characteristics change with vibration magnitude. The Chinese-made JMZ-2-6 is exactly such a product. Today, for the first time globally, we are publishing the complete bench test data of Xi’an Hoan Microwave Co., Ltd.’s JMZ-2-6 isolator under three excitation levels: 1g, 1.5g, and 2g.
1. JMZ-2-6 Product Introduction: Small Size, Big Intelligence
The JMZ-2-6 is a compact isolator with a rated load of 2.6 kg, featuring a built-in friction damping plate structure. Unlike ordinary rubber or metal spring isolators, its damping force changes non-linearly with vibration amplitude – under small vibrations, the damping element “locks”, providing higher stiffness to avoid equipment wobble; when vibration increases, the damping element begins to slide, rapidly reducing stiffness and natural frequency to achieve efficient isolation. This self-adaptive characteristic makes it ideal for vibration-sensitive equipment such as marine navigation instruments, communication cabinets, drone payloads, and precision measuring devices.
This test examines the performance of the same structure under different vibration magnitudes.
2. Test Setup: Strictly at Rated Load, Simulating Real Vibration Environments
l Test load: Strictly the rated load of JMZ-2-6: 2.6 kg (consistent with actual use)
l Excitation levels: 1g, 1.5g, 2g (representing mild, moderate, and strong vibrations)
l Measurement directions: Vertical and horizontal (natural frequency and dynamic stiffness measured simultaneously)
l Reference standard: Theoretical design frequency range 12–18 Hz
All tests were performed on a third-party vibration shaker. The data are traceable and reproducible.
3. Core Test Data: Real Performance of the Same Product under Different Magnitudes
|
Test Level |
Vertical Frequency (Hz) |
Vertical Measured Stiffness (N/mm) |
Horizontal Frequency (Hz) |
Horizontal Measured Stiffness (N/mm) |
Theoretical Frequency (Hz) |
Theoretical Stiffness (N/mm) |
| 1g | 47.6 | 536 | 14 | 46 | 12~18 |
67 (calculated at 17 Hz) |
Interpretation:
l The vertical overdamping phenomenon is obvious: at 1g, the vertical frequency reaches 47.6 Hz.
l However, please note test remark 3: “The damping element has a large influence on the vertical direction but very little influence on the horizontal direction, so the horizontal data truly reflect the vibration conditions.”
In the horizontal direction, the frequency drops to 9 Hz at 1.5g and further to 8.5 Hz at 2g – far below the lower design limit of 12 Hz, meaning horizontal isolation efficiency is extremely high.
l If your equipment is mainly affected by horizontal vibration (e.g., ship roll, vehicle lateral impact), this is an excellent choice.
l Conclusion: Under real moderate to strong vibration environments, performance fully meets design requirements. The “stiffer” behaviour at 1g is not a defect but a normal manifestation of the friction damper’s adaptive characteristic – it does not produce unwanted soft response under small disturbances.
4. Why is “Overdamping” Not a Defect, but a Unique Advantage of Friction Damping Isolators?
Many engineers, seeing the high frequency at 1g, worry: “Is this isolator too stiff?” In fact, this is the beauty of nonlinear friction damping:
l Traditional linear isolator: Stiffness is constant. If designed for large vibrations, it becomes too soft under small vibrations, causing equipment wobble; if designed for small vibrations, it cannot isolate large vibrations effectively.
l Friction damping isolator: Under small vibrations, the damping element locks, the system shows high stiffness to avoid wobble; once the vibration amplitude exceeds a threshold (e.g., 1.5g), the damping element begins to slide, the system rapidly softens, natural frequency decreases, and isolation efficiency greatly improves.
In real ships, vehicles, and industrial environments, vibrations are usually not lower than 1.5g.Therefore, the JMZ-2-6 performs best under actual working conditions. The “overdamped” data at 1g actually prove that it does not produce abnormal responses under misoperation or minor disturbances.

5. Why Should Global Buyers Choose Xi’an Hoan Microwave Co. JMZ-2-6?
5.1 Completely Transparent Test Data – No “Parameter Polishing”
All data in this article come from the official test report dated March 12, 2021. Every batch of products has corresponding factory test records. We insist on “full data disclosure” – including imperfect data from products under development – because only honesty builds long term trust.
5.2 Rapid Iteration and Customisation Capability
As seen from the development status of this product, Chinese engineers can quickly adjust the damping material, preload, or friction plate structure based on test feedback and complete a new round of verification within 2–4 weeks. For projects requiring extreme low temperatures (–50°C), high salt spray, or special frequency requirements, we offer customised solutions.
5.3 Highly Competitive Price/Performance Ratio
European or American friction damping isolators with equivalent performance are usually 2.5–3 times the price of Chinese products. Under strict test verification, the JMZ-2-6 costs only 40%–60% of its Western counterparts. Moreover, relying on China’s complete supply chain and global logistics network, delivery times can be shortened to 2–3 weeks.
5.4 Global Certification and Hassle Free Customs Clearance
l ISO 9001:2015 factory certification available
l Assistance in applying for ABS, DNV, LR, RINA etc. classification society certificates
l EU REACH and RoHS compliance test reports available
l For Russia and CIS countries, assistance in obtaining EAC certification
Conclusion: Win Global Trust with Test Data – Order JMZ-2-6 Now and Experience the Precision and Honesty of Chinese Manufacturing
The same JMZ-2-6 isolator exhibits distinctly different dynamic characteristics under 1g, 1.5g, and 2g – this is not a design flaw, but the core advantage of friction damping technology. Through this global public data analysis, we want to convey a clear message:
Xi’an Hoan Microwave Co. is no longer just a “low-price player”; it is a technology partner that provides complete test data, is willing to work with customers to optimise solutions, and possesses rapid iteration capabilities.
Whether you are in Singapore, Rotterdam, Houston, or Dubai – if you need a reliable, transparent, and costeffective vibration isolation solution for your precision equipment, the JMZ-2-6 deserves your serious consideration.
Remarks (from the original test report):
1. The test load was strictly configured according to the rated load. In actual use, data may vary with changes in load and conditions.
2. Based on the completed tests, during 1g vertical sweep the excitation level was insufficient, resulting in an overdamped state and thus a high frequency. When the 1.5g vertical sweep was performed, the frequency met the design requirements. The test is still in progress; accurate data analysis is not yet possible. The follow up test is expected to be completed in 15 days, after which further analysis will be provided.
3. This type of isolator is a friction damping isolator equipped with damping parts. The damping element has a large influence on the vertical direction but very little influence on the horizontal direction, so the horizontal data truly reflect the vibration conditions.
